Why so serious, Malibu?

Ok, so late one night a few months ago after a few glasses of wine, I came across that old show American Gladiator. OMG! That was my favorite. I remember thinking that the Challengers were pretty even matches to the Gladiators. That is because I was like three foot six and anybody taller than five feet, must be "big". In actuality, the Challengers were actually small and typically normal (read: nerdy) folks. Like, "John, the Accountant from Michigan". I don't think I need to tell you that John pretty much got beaten to a pulp by the tennis ball launcher thing, not to mention Malibu with his phallic bat thing (see above). I loved that show! I think Blaze was my first crush. It was either Blaze or McGuyver. I distinctly remember having a thing for their hair. OH, and Marc Summers, He-llo Physical Challenge. Yes, my first TV crushes included the host of Double Dare, a roid-raging psycho who had a fondness for hair gel and spandex, and a skinny guy who could make explosives from dental floss and a pen refill. Me thinks that may have contributed to some of my early dating misjudgements.

Taking it back a little further, remember She Ra Princess of Power? Now, TRY to tell me that wasn't some powerhungry man-eating female toy executive who wanted empower young girls. I wasn't empowered so much. Actually, DaddyP recently found She Ra and He Man buried together in a passionate embrace under a bush in the yard about two years ago. It was my way of tellingThe Woman that I was not going to fall prey to her Female Empowerment Motives. Yeah, I was pretty with it back then.
